39/365

A few months ago the government issued senior citizens with free bus passes allowing them to travel anywhere in the country for free after 9am. Sure enough they're out there at the bus stops at the stroke of nine. In addition to slowing down the morning commute, it also makes for a very full bus in the afternoon when I'm going home from work. Well, there was a group of them out there today. The thing is, you can tell they don't normally take the bus. First of all, they got on in Bristol city centre. They were dressed like they were going for a light hike and some even had walking sticks. They didn't have bags of any type (backpacks, shopping, handbags, etc). Not a hair was out of place on the head. I think that's the most bizarre part...what were they DOING in Bristol?? Then, this was my favorite, they got on the bus and were pleasantly surprised to see that FirstBus supplies free reading material to its passengers. Well, if you take the bus regularly, you are quite familiar with the daily issue of the Metro (if you're not in the know, it's a step up from the tabloids) littering the aisles. Anyway, if I could just find out what these large groups of senior citizens are doing in Bristol during the weekday, I would be very happy!

Mom says...let's not be critical of the old retired folks and their choice of daily activities!!

It totally will be me one day. Don't get my wrong, I love the retired people! They're like my parents! :-) It's just that one day they all came out of the woodwork!

Ask them! Anyone that age who's willing to get out and keep living life no doubt would love to talk about it!
